We were able to chill, relax, and hang out together for the day on Friday, and when we got home on Friday afternoon from doing some errands, he went online to check his email to get the news of Tim Russert's death. Needless to say, we were, and still are, stunned at the news. Neither of us are terribly into politics, nor even watch his show much (though I used to watch it a little more frequently when I used to live in DC), but we both really liked Tim Russert, who seemed so passionate about politics, his family, his hometown, his Irish and Catholic background, and had a great sense of loving life, and was living it to it's fullest. Such a genuine human being - and such a loss to have him taken so soon. May he Rest in Peace.
I got to head to Hampden for the Annual Honfest here in Baltimore, and had a great time. Wanted to visit Lovelyarns to participate in the World Wide Knit in Public Day, but I didn't get there 'til much later in the day, as I bumped into some sailing friends, some of whom I knew would be there, so I hung out with them for much of the day. But here is a taste of what I saw......
Finally left my sailing friends around 5pm or so, and finally got a little bit of knitting in. Luckily, got a call from the boy, who had been down at the DSC teaching sailing for the day, and he came up from the Inner Harbor with a fellow sailing instructor, and so we hung out watching and enjoying a band for a bit, and bumped into another fellow sailor with his lady friend, so that was fun. Good times with some sailors at a non-sailing event!!
Today, we went to Sunday Brunch at Ryan's Daughter up in Belvedere Square, as I wanted to celebrate Father's Day - C's kids are up in York, PA still living with their mother, and he didn't have plans to be up there today, so we had our own celebration here in Baltimore. He's playing golf this afternoon with a friend from an old job from several years ago, so he's having fun with that...... I haven't decided yet what to do with the rest of my afternoon, but I do have some grocery shopping to do, so will likely head to Trader Joe's in Towson.....and then decided from there what all else I'll do.
In the meantime, Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there - hoping it's a good one!
